Roger Bowling vs. Abel Trujillo rematch booked for December’s UFC on FOX 9 event

By Chris Taylor - October 2, 2013

After their first bout ended in a controversial no-contest result, lightweights Roger Bowling (11-4 MMA, 0-0 UFC) and Abel Trujillo (10-5 MMA, 1-1 UFC) have been scheduled to rematch at December’s UFC on FOX 9 event.

Bowling and Trujillo first met at August’s “UFC Fight Night 27” event in Indianapolis. The bout was stopped in the second round due to a controversial knee to the body thrown by Trujillo, just as Bowling was climbing off the canvas. The blow initially appeared to land on Bowling’s chin, though replays later showed that it was more of a grazing blow. Nevertheless, referee Rob Hinds ruled the blow illegal, and when Bowling could not continue, the fight was ruled a no contest.

UFC on FOX 9 takes place on December 14 live from the Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento, California. The event is headlined by a lightweight title fight featuring champion Anthony Pettis and challenger Josh Thomson.
