Browne: 'Overeem Will Learn To Be A Team Player Or Be Out At Jackson's'
BJPENN.COM News - May 12, 2014
“I think everybody’s due a chance. Just because he wasn’t the best teammate there, doesn’t mean he can’t be a good teammate here. When he comes to Jackson’s, the stuff that all his other teammates were saying he did, is not going to fly at Jackson’s. He will not have the opportunity to even let it get that far. Does that make sense? If he says, ‘hey coach, I’m going to bring my own guys and work out at night.’ Coach Jackson will be like, ‘you can either train with the team, or you can leave.’ I feel like a lot of people, because he’s Alistair Overeem, have catered to him. I feel like Blackzilians probably catered to him, so he got used to it and he felt like he could throw his weight around a little bit. At Jackson’s, it’s not going to fly. You’re either part of the team or your not. If you’re not part of the team, you can get the hell out out of here. We don’t need you here. We didn’t ask you to come here, you asked to come here, so you see something here that you need. So, you’re either part of the team, or leave.” In a recent interview with ‘The MMA Hour’, Travis Browne discussed Team Jackson’s newest heavyweight acquisition, Alistair Overeem.
Silva Coming To America: "I need to learn new stuff"
BJPENN.COM News - May 12, 2014
“I was good in the first round. I did what was planned, which was explore the kicks in the beginning. I hit him with a good kick, we trained a lot to do that. It was a flaw of Brown’s where I knew I could catch him. He was very hurt and I tried to submit him. I’m sure that he trained a lot of jiu-jitsu to defend from his back. I confess that I don’t understand what happened there. I’ve trained more than everybody. I sparred five rounds with different athletes. My team and I were too confident for this fight because I was well trained. Man, I posted stuff saying that my cardio was excellent to fight five rounds because I knew that I was ready. I didn’t understand. I was tired in the first round, I got scared when I felt tired. When I felt the tiring in my legs, I told Distak, my head coach: “I don’t understand”. I felt a low blow but I don’t know if that was the reason. I don’t know if it was the adrenaline, my recovering, I confess that I don’t know.”
Matt Brown Admits To Using His Face To Defend Silva's Body Shots
BJPENN.COM News - May 12, 2014
“After the first body shot I was actually thankful that he was punching my face. I was leaving my face open to get punched so that my body could recover. Which was a risk/reward thing and you only have a split second to think about it. And I know that if I get hit in the body again it could very potentially be over, so it was like, just hit me anywhere except for there. So I curled up, I grabbed his leg, and just hoped that he punched me in the face, and fortunately he went for a submission before destroying my face.”

Diaz Rep: 'All We Want Is A Conversation With The UFC And They Said No'
BJPENN.COM News - May 12, 2014
“We asked to sit down and have a conversation about our contract and they said no. So we said OK, then we’ll sit out and wait until you know, something changes. We’re just kinda all in limbo. Hopefully we’ll sit down and have a productive conversation. So far, all of our interaction has been through media, you know we say something and then they say something and we say something. We’re yet to actually have a conversation. “I had a brief conversation with Joe Silva and he said ‘well that’s not going to happen’ so I said ‘okay sounds good’ so we’ll just wait. Wait and see, but we don’t have a specific goal, we just want to be able to have a conversation and see what happens. Nate will be open to fighting anywhere where he’s paid the most and where his stock has the most value, but we are under contract with the UFC so it doesn’t really matter.”

Dominick Cruz: 'We can all learn from Conor McGregor'
BJPENN.COM News - May 12, 2014
“Really, it’s just like anything else. You hear what other people say and you take other people’s constructive criticism, and add it to what you do until people like hearing what you have to say. And they either like it or they don’t. Everybody likes hearing what Conor McGregor has to say. It’s funny, he’s clever, he’s got a nice accent and he comes in and he always dresses sharp. All that together creates something that people want to watch on TV. It’s entertainment. “Fighters need to remember that we’re in the entertainment business. And that comes from giving an interview, all the way to the end of the fight. The more entertaining you are through and through, from beginning to end, however you choose to do it, the more people are going to want to tune in, and the more butts you’re going to put in the seats. That’s something that all of us can take from a guy like Conor McGregor.”

It’s an opportunity to make money. It’s an opportunity to achieve great things in a short window of time.

BJPENN.COM News - May 12, 2014
“It’s one of those things. Those guys, I don’t care about those guys. I don’t see them as competition whatsoever. I see that Bjork (Bjorn Rebney) has been saying a lot of stupid s–t lately, he’s in the press. He’s screaming for attention. Screaming for attention. Talking about New York and the union and he’s going to… what the f–k has he done to do anything in New York? What has that guy done to raise the bar in mixed martial arts whatsoever? He’s done nothing. He’s done completely zero. Zilch. “So good luck to him on their pay-per-view.”

Inside MMA guest host women’s UFC fighter Miesha Tate interviews fellow fighter Alexis Davis about her upcoming title challenge versus UFC Bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey. “I definitely think I am going to be able to stop the armbar. This is something I train constantly everyday. Obviously she has been training it in Judo for so long but I have been training Mixed Martial Arts for a long time. I train with world champion blackbelts. It is not a problem for me. Blackbelts armbar me everyday. I am not afraid to say that, but I defend them more often than I get them.”
