Interim UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall was down to fight Alex Pereira in April. The British fighter has been out of action since a short-notice bout with Sergei Pavlovich in November. Tom Aspinall famously stepped up on two weeks’ notice, after Jon Jones pulled out of his title defense with Stipe Miocic. As a result, the Brit faced Pavlovich for interim gold.

MMA reporter Ariel Helwani claims Leon Edwards vs. Khamzat Chimaev is the UFC’s top choice for the main event of UFC 300. UFC CEO Dana White has vowed to make UFC 300 a historic card, but with the event being just two months away, the main event for the fight card is still not set. With there not being much time left, the UFC will need to announce the main event soon and according to Helwani, a potential holdup is the UFC trying to get Chimaev into the States to fight.

Volkanovski is set to put his 145-pound gold at stake against Topuria inside the Honda Center in Anaheim, California this Saturday night. The featherweight championship clash will headline UFC 298. If “The Great” can emerge victorious, he’ll have secured his sixth successful UFC featherweight title defense, which would put him one shy of tying Jose Aldo’s 145-pound record.

Jon Jones will not dismiss the possibility of fighting interim UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall. Jones is the main UFC heavyweight champion, but he couldn’t go through with a planned defense against Stipe Miocic at UFC 295 back in November 2023. Jones suffered a torn pectoral muscle, and had to be sidelined. As a result, Aspinall was booked to face Sergei Pavlovich for the interim gold. Aspinall scored a first-round knockout win.

UFC CEO Dana White has admitted that he’s been having a hard time booking a headliner for the promotion’s most important show of 2024. He’s got the main event and co-main event left to figure it out. UFC Vegas 86 Bonus Report: Dan Ige one of four 'POTN' winners

The Octagon remained in Nevada for tonight’s UFC Vegas 86 event, a 14-bout fight card headlined by Joe Pyfer vs. Jack Hermansson. The middleweight main event proved to be a hard-fought back and forth affair that went the full twenty-five minutes. Joe Pyfer was able to get off to a strong start in the fight, dominating ‘The Joker’ in the opening five minutes. Round two proved to be more of the same, although Hermansson did find some offense in the late stages of the frame. After being down 2-0 after the opening ten minutes, Jack Hermansson began to take control of the fight in round three thanks to his low kicks and jab. After busting up Pyfer in rounds three and four while on the feet, Hermansson switched things up in the final five minutes. ‘The Joker’ took the fight to the floor midway through the final round and proceeded to smother ‘Bodbagz’ on the canvas on route a unanimous decision win.
