He is set to defend the belt at UFC 327 against Tatsuro Taira, in a fight that many believed should have been awarded to Manel Kape. Either way, Van is ready to prove that he is deserving of being world champion after getting the belt courtesy of an injury to Alexandre Pantoja in their own title clash.

Israel Adesanya initially had some interest in participating in the much discussed UFC White House event. However, his interest eventually waned, and now he’d rather not be anywhere near it. The UFC White House card goes down on June 14. That’s Donald Trump’s 80th birthday, but the event is actually intended to celebrate America’s 250th anniversary, which occurs on July 4. While the date of the event is a bit of a head scratcher, it is expected to be one of the most elaborate shows the UFC has put on to date, with a price tag of well over $50 million.

Before he signed with the UFC, Jackson had already become a household name in combat sports through PRIDE, defeating the likes of Kevin Randleman and Chuck Liddell before he ever appeared in the Octagon.

One of UFC Freedom 250’s biggest fights puts former UFC light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira against former interim titleholder Ciryl Gane in a heavyweight co-main event. Pereira and Gane will fight for the interim heavyweight title as Tom Aspinall continues to recover from multiple eye injuries sustained against Gane at UFC 321 last year.

Israel Adesanya wouldn’t be surprised if Sean Strickland can pull of a big upset over Khamzat Chimaev. Strickland will challenge Chimaev for the middleweight title on May 9 in the UFC 328 main event in Newark. While some felt Nassourdine Imavov would be the rightful No. 1 contender, Strickland leapfrogged the competition with his second-round TKO finish over Anthony Hernandez at UFC Houston back in February.
