UFC announces first events to be held in Croatia and Netherlands in 2016

The UFC is expanding in 2016 with a recent announcement of taking events to Croatia and Netherlands for the first time.

James Elliott, UFC EMEA general manager and vice president said in a statement, “”It is truly a testimony to the growth of the UFC brand to be breaking into two new markets in Europe in the first half of 2016.” Elliott added, “The fans have been demanding local live events and we will not disappoint with two compelling shows.”

Dutch heavyweight Stefan Struve is excited for the event taking place in his homeland and said he will do anything he can to fight on the card in front of his friends and family.

Stipe Miocic being a Croatian American is also hyped on the Croatia event. Miocic mentioned going to Croatia in 2015 and looks forward to getting back.

The UFC event in Croatia will be held at the Zagreb Arena on April 10 and in Netherlands at the Ahoy Rotterdam on May 8. Both events are reported to air on FOX Sports 1.
