UFC 195 medical suspensions released, three fighters potentially sidelined six months

Jan. 2 saw an amazing night of fights with UFC 195 taking place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

A welterweight title fight between champion Robbie Lawler and Carlos Condit had everyone standing at the end of five rounds in a “Fight of the Year” candidate just two days into the new year. Fortunately for both Lawler and Condit, they were not given the most severe medical suspensions from the event.

The Nevada Athletic Commission released the medical suspensions to MMA Fighting for competitors from UFC 195 as follows:

  • Kyle Noke: Requires fractured nose to be cleared by doctor or no contest until 07/02; minimum suspension no contest until 02/02, no contact until 01/24 due to left elbow strain
  • Dustin Poirier: Requires fractured nose to be cleared by doctor or no contest until 07/02; minimum suspension no contest until 02/17, no contact until 02/02
  • Sheldon Westcott: Requires left knee to be cleared and right hand to be x-rayed, if positive then must be cleared by doctor or no contest until 07/02; minimum suspension no contest until 02/02, no contact until 01/24
  • Joe Soto: Requires follow-up exam with retinal specialist done by 05/01
  • Robbie Lawler: Suspended until 03/03, no contact until 02/17
  • Carlos Condit: Suspended until 03/03, no contact until 02/17
  • Scott Holtzman: Suspended until 03/03, no contact until 02/17
  • Andrei Arlovski: Suspended until 02/17, no contact until 02/02
  • Drew Dober: Suspended until 02/02, no contact until 01/14
  • Joseph Duffy: Suspended until 02/02, no contact until 01/14 due to lacerations
  • Edgar Garcia: Suspended until 02/02, no contact until 01/14
