At the ‘UFC Fight Night: Dublin’ Q&A event leading up to Saturday’s fight, Rory MacDonald was asked about the status of Georges St. Pierre’s return.

Georges St-Pierre interview

MacDonald stated that GSP returning wouldn’t affect his run at welterweight because ‘Rush’ wasn’t planning on returning to fight for the title, but rather for super-fights.

The crowd immediately went wild as MacDonald realized he may have accidentally let too much info slip.

He backtracked, saying ‘IF’ GSP returned that would likely be his plan.

MacDonald divulged more info to MMAJunkie about GSP’s potential return:

“He was a champion for many, many years at the top of the sport. If he decides he’s ready to come back, he’s ready. I have all the confidence in the world in him.”

“From what we’ve talked about, he’s not coming back for the belt. He’s coming back for the odd fight I think that interests him. … I don’t know if he’s coming back. But as far as I know, if he does, I think he’s more interested in super fights and whatnot.”

“Honestly I never talk to him about it. Usually we just talk as friends and work and train, and I try to stay out of that. It’s his decision. He’s a smart guy.”

Given that GSP is training with Freddie Roach, do you think he will be returning to the UFC?
