The UFC will return to Boston’s TD Garden on August 17 and in doing so will make it’s promotional debut on the new FOX Sports 1 cable network.
Yesterday, it was announced that a pair of “ultimate fighter” veterans, middleweights Uriah Hall (7-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) and Nick Ring (13-2 MMA, 3-2 UFC) will square off at the inaugural event.
Uriah Hall made quite a name for himself as a contestant on season 17 of “The Ultimate Fighter.” Hall put the MMA world on notice after scoring 2 of the most brutal knockouts in the shows history, on route to reaching the TUF tournament finals. However, in the shows finale, Hall was unable to pull the trigger and eventually lost a split decision to Kevin Gastelum.
Hall now faces Canadian Nick Ring, who was a contestant on season 11 of “The Ultimate Fighter”. Ring started his MMA career by going a perfect 12-0, which included UFC wins over Riki Fukuda and James Head. However, recently Nick “The Promise” Ring has stuggled to find his groove, going 1-2 in his past three bouts. Ring last saw action at UFC 158, where he lost a close split decision to Chris Camozzi.
UFC on FOX Sports 1 1, takes place August 17 live from the TD Garden in Boston. The event will mark the promotion’s debut on the new cable network, which launches that same day.
UFC on FOX Sports 1 1 now includes the following bouts:
Alistair Overeem vs. Travis Browne
