Max Holloway makes promise after UFC 326 loss to Charles Oliveira: “I’m going to whoop somebody’s ass”

Max Holloway won’t dwell on his UFC 326 loss to Charles Oliveira.
Saturday’s BMF Championship fight between “Blessed” and “do Bronxs” didn’t play out the way many envisioned. Holloway was a favorite going into the fight and some anticipated another highlight reel finish for the former UFC Featherweight Champion. Instead, Oliveira turned in a grappling masterclass to earn a unanimous decision win.
After the fight, Holloway spoke to longtime UFC color commentator Joe Rogan. “Blessed” gave Oliveira his props for getting the job done (via MMAJunkie).
“(My game plan was) just stick and move, you know?” Holloway said. “But they came with a better game plan. You’ve got to give it up for Oliveira. Hell of a fighter. True BMF. I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
Holloway went on to say he’s far from done trading leather inside the Octagon. Despite the setback in Las Vegas, Holloway delivered a stern message to whoever he fights next.
“I’m going to come back, whoop somebody’s ass and be right in title contention again,” Holloway said. “I ain’t done yet. I’m going to see Mr. Oliveira again, bro. That’s for sure.”
Holloway has now gone 1-2 in his last three outings. After falling short in his bid to become a two-time featherweight champion against Ilia Topuria back in Oct. 2024, “Blessed” made the move to lightweight. He defeated Dustin Poirier in “The Diamond’s” retirement fight before the defeat to Oliveira.
What’s next for Holloway remains to be seen, but he’s still a popular fan favorite under the UFC banner. There are a slew of fresh matchups for Holloway once he is ready to get back to the action. Stars such as Paddy Pimblett, Benoit Saint Denis, Mateusz Gamrot, and Mauricio Ruffy would all be new opponents for “Blessed.”
