Derrick Lewis unfazed by Josh Hokit’s wild antics ahead of UFC Freedom 250: “We’re about to go fist to ass”

Derrick Lewis doesn’t appear to be bothered by Josh Hokit’s bizarre style of trash talk.
Hokit has quickly ruffled the feathers of several UFC names, including Alex Pereira and even reigning UFC Lightweight Champion Ilia Topuria. Hokit will be Lewis’ opponent on the UFC Freedom 250 card this Sunday on the White House lawn. The two shared the stage for the first press conference promoting the event, but Hokit was kicked out after trading barbs with Pereira and Topuria.
While some believe Hokit has gone too far with the shenanigans, “The Black Beast” is taking it all in stride (via MMAFighting).
“I really don’t care,” Lewis said. “I believe that guys do stuff like that just because it ain’t nothing else we can go after. Because he don’t know me and I don’t know him.
“So, I believe that he just says and does things like that just to get under someone’s skin that he don’t know. We’re about to go fist to ass in a few weeks, so it’s like, you’ve got to try to find some type of motivation.”
“I don’t care about all the shit-talking,” Lewis added. “I’ve been doing this long enough to know that guys can say whatever. Say whatever, it don’t matter. We get asked these questions all the time, so sometimes guys don’t know what to say, so they just say whatever. That’s how I do it.”
Given that Hokit’s name has been on the rise, a win for Lewis would be his biggest in quite some time. “The Black Beast” is hoping to rebound following a second-round TKO loss to Waldo Cortes-Acosta back in January. That defeat snapped Lewis’ two-fight winning streak, and he’d like to get back in the win column.
