UFC star Sean Strickland claims Ronda Rousey is ‘going through menopause’ ahead of comeback

Former UFC champ Sean Strickland has no interest in watching Ronda Rousey fight Gina Carano on Netflix this May.

Rousey will meet Carano in a pro MMA bout on May 16. Both women rank among the most influential fighters in the history of women’s MMA, so the bout will definitely generate huge viewership—possibly more than the upcoming UFC White House card.

Of course, Rousey and Carano are both far out of their competitive primes. Rousey, 37, hasn’t fought since she was knocked out by Amanda Nunes in 2015. Carano, 42, hasn’t fought in even longer. Her last fight, a KO loss to Cris Cyborg, occurred way back in 2009. That’s 17 years ago.

Strickland is a known skeptic of women’s MMA, and is never afraid to share his opinion about anything. His main gripe with the newly announced Rousey vs. Carano fight on Netflix seems to be their ages.

Strickland, who is one of the biggest stars in the UFC middleweight division, reacted to the fight announcement in an interview with Newsweek.

“Ronda’s gonna steamroll her,” Strickland said. “We’re just gonna watch two middle-aged women going through menopause fight each other. Who gives a [expletive].”

Strickland is set to return to the Octagon in the main event of UFC Houston this Saturday. He will take on Anthony Hernandez in a clash of top middleweight contenders. He was beaten in his last two fights, losing decisions to Dricus Du Plessis.

Unlike Rousey, he only enjoyed a short title reign in the UFC. After winning the title from Israel Adesanya, he failed to record a single defense before relinquishing the belt to Du Plessis.
