UFC 324 Results: Sean O’Malley defeats Song Yadong (Highlights)

O’Malley (19-3 MMA) will be returning to action for the first time since UFC 316, where he suffered a submission loss to Merab Dvalishvili. That setback marked Sean’s second defeat in a row, as he was previously dethroned by ‘The Machine’ at UFC 306 in September of 2024. ‘Suga’ registered his most recent win back in March of 2024, where he defeated Marlon Vera by unanimous decision.

Meanwhile, Song Yadong (22-9-1 MMA) most previously competed 11 months ago, where he earned a technical decision victory over Henry Cejudo. ‘The Kung Fu Kid’ has gone 3-2 over his past five Octagon appearances, this while suffering losses to Cory Sandhagen and Petr Yan respectively.

Round one of the UFC 324 co-main event begins and Song Yadong opens with a quick leg kick. Sean O’Malley takes the center of the cage. He lands a low kick of his own. Yadong answers with a low kick. Sean returns. ‘The Kung Fu Kid’ swings and misses with a leg kick attempt. O’Malley bouncing early on. He lands a calf kick. ‘Suga’ with a front kick to the body. He lands a jab right after that. Song Yadong with a low kick and then a left hand over the top that partially connects. Sean O’Malley with a shot to the body. Yadong replies with a pair of low kicks. Another hard low kick and then a takedown by Song. O’Malley tries for a guillotine but is unable to secure the choke. Yadong with some body shots before the horn sounds to end round one.

Round two of the UFC 324 co-main event begins and Song Yadong lands a big low kick to start. Sean O’Malley immediately switches stances following that blow to his lead leg. ‘Suga’ with a body shot. Yadong answers with a combination. The Team Alpha Male product misses with a low kick attempt. ‘Suga’ looking to counter as Yadong closes the distance. Song with a nice left hook. He shoots in and scores a takedown. O’Malley quickly gets back to his feet, but is still pressed against the cage. Some knees to the thigh by ‘The Kung Fu Kid’. O’Malley with some back elbows. Under two minutes remain in the second round. Song Yadong with a big takedown. ‘Suga’ looks for a triangle choke submission, but it is not there. Sean O’Malley scrambles and gets back to his feet. His lead leg is clearly bothering him. Song continues to press the action. He misses with a 1-2. O’Malley with a front kick to the body. The horn sounds to end Round 2.

The third and final round of the UFC 324 co-headliner begins and Sean O’Malley lands a punch to the body. Song Yadong answers with a good low kick and then a right cross. Another low kick from Song. O’Malley answers with a pair of left hands. Yadong coming forward. O’Malley clips him with another left. A front kick to the body from ‘Suga’. The crowd is once again growing restless. Sean O’Malley with a nice jab. Yadong dives for a takedown but it is not there. Two minutes remain. A big right hand from O’Malley finds the mark. The fighters trade low kicks. ‘Suga’ with a right over the top. Yadong misses with a left hook. One minute remains in the fight. Song Yadong misses with a low kick. O’Malley with a nice right hand. Yadong is bleeding now. A nice knee from Sean O’Malley finds the mark. A spinning back kick from Song partially connects. O’Malley with a good right. The horn sounds to end the fight.
