Sean O’Malley is confirming he is fighting Merab Dvalishvili next.

Sean O'Malley and Merab Dvalishvili

Reigning UFC bantamweight champion, O’Malley (18-1 MMA) is hot off a unanimous decision victory over Marlon Vera (23-9 MMA) earlier this month at UFC 299. Prior to that victory, Sean O’Malley had captured the 135lbs crown by stopping Aljamain Sterling (23-4 MMA) by TKO last August at UFC 292.

The 29-year-old has, in a YouTube video, announced that his next opponent will be the number 1 ranked bantamweight contender Merab Dvalishvili (17-4 MMA).

Sean O’Malley stated (h/t MMAMania):

“Merab’s next, Merab is f**king next. Your wish is granted. A lotta people said I’m ducking him, I just really am not ducking that little dude. I like the fight for me, there’s multiple ways to win. I’m excited about the fight now, finally. I was never ducking him, I was just never excited to fight him. Now … is it the right time? It’s like the ‘Chito’ rematch. The time will come when it’s the right time to fight certain people. Merab’s next and be careful what you wish for, buddy.”

Merab Dvalishvili has won 10 in a row, his latest victory coming against Henry Cejudo (16-4 MMA) this past February at UFC 298.

It wasn’t long ago that ‘The Machine’ accused Sean O’Malley of ignoring him, but apparently that has now all changed, and a fight will take place between the two.

A date and location for the match-up is yet to be confirmed by the UFC.

Are you excited to learn it will be O’Malley vs. Dvalishvili next? Who do you believe will come out the victor?
