Sean O’Malley compares Aiemann Zahabi to a ‘punching bag’ ahead of UFC White House

Sean O’Malley doesn’t think Aiemann Zahabi will pose much of a problem to him on Sunday.

O’Malley is set to take on Zahabi at the White House in a key fight at bantamweight. Many fans were surprised by the matchup, but O’Malley still believes that with a win, he will get a title shot. And, he’s oozing with confidence that he will be able to win with ease as he expects to finsih Zahabi on the feet.

“Turn a 15-minute timer on and punch the punching bag for 15 minutes,” O’Malley said at media day on how he prepares for Zahabi. “Chito is as durable as they come. You saw what I did to Chito. It could be that Kris Moutinho style, come forward, get hit, but come forward. It’s kind of what I’m expecting from him, but I don’t think he will be able to take the shots.”

O’Malley, comparing Zahabi to a punching bag is a diss, but he believes the Canadian will be there to hit, but will keep walking forward for the most part. However, ‘Suga’ does think he will eventually be able to finish Zahabi to have a statement win on the White House lawn.

If O’Malley does beat Zahabi at the White House and finishes him, it would be a big win for him, but he also believes it would do a lot for him in the division.

Although O’Malley believes a trilogy with Petr Yan and Merab Dvalishvili will be next, ‘Suga’ believes his next fight after Sunday is for the title.

“My next fight will probably be for the title, but I don’t know if the next title fight will involve me in it,” O’Malley said. “Seems like Petr-Merab is the way it’s leaning, but whether I wait or take another fight, I don’t know. It’s so hard to predict how these fights play out. Taking it one fight at a time.”

O’Malley enters UFC White House with a record of 19-3 and one NC, and coming off a decision win over Song Yadong. Before that, he suffered back-to-back losses to Merab Dvalishvili and lost his bantamweight title.
