Report: Pedro Nobre to replace injured George Roop against Yuri Alcantara at UFC on FX 7 | UFC News

By Chris Taylor - January 7, 2013

According to a report from Brazilian website SporTV.com, UFC bantamweight George Roop (12-9-1 MMA, 2-5 UFC) has been forced to withdraw from his scheduled bout at UFC on FX 7 and has been replaced by promotional newcomer Pedro Nobre (14-1-2 MMA, 0-0 UFC).

Nobre steps in on short notice to take on Brazilian bantamweight Yuri Alcantara (27-4 MMA, 2-1 UFC). Alcantara looks to rebound from a unanimous-decision loss which he suffered to Hacran Dias at UFC 147 in June. The Dias loss snapped a 13-fight win streak for Alcantara, who holds notable UFC wins over Felipe Arantes and Michihiro Omigawa.

Meanwhile, Nobre saw action in the octagon earlier this year as a featherweight contestant on “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil.” However, Nobre suffered a first-round knockout loss to Marcos Vinicius “Vina” Borges Pancini in the elimination round and was sent home.

UFC on FX 7 takes place January 19th at the Ginasio Estadual Geraldo Jose de Almeida in San Paulo, Brazil. The main-event features a middleweight clash between Vitor Belfort (21-10 MMA, 10-6 UFC) and Michael Bisping (23-4 MMA, 13-4 UFC).
