The pair fought to a decision, the first and only of McGregor’s career, and saw ‘The Notorious’ given the nod. After the fight it was revealed that McGregor had torn his ACL, and would need surgery. He returned to the Octagon and went on a 5 win streak, claiming the UFC featherweight championship in the process.

This past Sunday Dominick Cruz returned to the Octagon for just his second fight in 4 years as he reclaimed his UFC bantamweight championship after picking up a split decision win. Following Cruz’s win he found himself being called out by nemesis Urijah Faber, and there was much speculation as to whether or not Faber would get a title shot, or if Dillashaw would get an immediate rematch.

Following the triumphant return of Fedor Emelianenko on New Year’s Eve it was announced that ‘The Last Emperor’ would be looking to fight again under the Rizin banner sometime around April. Immediately there were speculations as to who Emelianenko would fight, however since the announcement we’ve heard no further details regarding the fight.

The knockout Hall of Fame legend who won the world heavyweight championship twice is regarded as one of boxing’s greats. Foreman revealed in a tweet that he feels he could have gone far in MMA if the sport was prevalent in his heyday. If there is one thing that UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos can talk about more than Conor McGregor, it is his own native language. The Brazilian who has been getting flack from McGregor for moving from Brazil and living in the United States to train, had a moment where he won the exchange of words over the outspoken Irish showman during the UFC 197 Press Conference. McGregor said, ““I see a man who, although he is Brazilian, does not represent the Brazilian people like he should. He brings the name of Brazil down. So I will bring the name of Brazil back up once again. Viva la Brasilia!”

Jose Aldo was undoubtably and understandably devastated by his 13 second KO loss to Conor McGregor at UFC 194. After a world tour leading up to UFC 189, and then many more months of buildup leading to UFC 194, Aldo certainly felt the pressure going into the fight. In a recent interview with Combate, Aldo opened up on what the worst part about his loss to McGregor was, and why he is optimistic that a rematch would go differently.
