Early Tuesday morning news surfaced that UFC lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos had been forced to withdraw from his UFC 196 lightweight title fight against Conor McGregor after breaking his foot. While the UFC has been scrambling to find a replacement for dos Anjos with less than 2 weeks to go until fight night, Donald Cerrone and Anthony Pettis have already offered to step in on short notice to fight McGregor.

With the news of dos Anjos withdrawing from the fight there was much speculation as to who would offer to step in on short notice to save the main event. Many expected Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone to step in and take the fight given his ‘anyone, anytime, anywhere’ mentality in addition to the fact that he just fought on Sunday night.
