In his next fight, McGregor was submitted by Nate Diaz in a welterweight scrap at UFC 196. Now, McGregor will get the chance to avenge his loss to Diaz at UFC 200, while Aldo fights Frankie Edgar for the interim featherweight championship. Aldo, who reigned as the UFC featherweight champion for nearly 5 years, spoke to ESPN to discuss why he feels McGregor’s knockout in their first fight was “lucky”, and why he is confident that he will get to avenge the loss in the future.

Another injury has hit a UFC main event. Tony Ferguson has pulled out of the UFC on FOX 19 main event against Khabib Nurmagomedov, which is scheduled for April 16th in Florida. UFC officials confirmed Ferguson’s injury that forced him out of competition with FOX Sports.

UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier shocked a lot of people when he offered to help train Ovince Saint Preux in his interim light heavyweight championship fight against former champion Jon Jones at UFC 197. Saint Preux, who serves as a replacement for an injured Cormier politely declined the champ’s offer saying, “Definitely appreciate the invitation, but I think with everything we’ve got going on over here… My coach came up with a solid game plan and I think we definitely gonna be okay.”

UFC pound for pound kingpin Jon Jones has had his share of legal troubles, however he feels that the recent traffic stop which landed him in jail for 3 days was unnecessary. Jones was ultimately released from jail and ordered to complete anger management courses, as well as driver awareness classes. In addition, Jones must now get permission from his probation officer before driving anywhere.

It was revealed that DC would be out for 3-6 weeks, which subsequently lead to the UFC selecting Ovince Saint Preux as a fill-in opponent for Jones on April 23rd.

While failing a drug test is normally a 12-month suspension, Romero and USADA managed to reach a settlement agreement after he blamed the testing failure on a tainted supplement that he was taking.
