Last week news broke that UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier had been forced out of his UFC 197 main event bout with Jon Jones on April 23rd due to an injury sustained in training. The UFC ultimately selected Ovince Saint Preux as a fill-in opponent against Jones, and made the bout for the interim championship while Cormier took 5-6 weeks to recover.

Recently, the UFC announced that the tryouts for the next season of The Ultimate Fighter would be held at the end of April in Las Vegas. In his next fight, McGregor was submitted by Nate Diaz in a welterweight scrap at UFC 196. Another injury has hit a UFC main event. Tony Ferguson has pulled out of the UFC on FOX 19 main event against Khabib Nurmagomedov, which is scheduled for April 16th in Florida. UFC officials confirmed Ferguson’s injury that forced him out of competition with FOX Sports.

UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier shocked a lot of people when he offered to help train Ovince Saint Preux in his interim light heavyweight championship fight against former champion Jon Jones at UFC 197. Saint Preux, who serves as a replacement for an injured Cormier politely declined the champ’s offer saying, “Definitely appreciate the invitation, but I think with everything we’ve got going on over here… My coach came up with a solid game plan and I think we definitely gonna be okay.”

UFC pound for pound kingpin Jon Jones has had his share of legal troubles, however he feels that the recent traffic stop which landed him in jail for 3 days was unnecessary. Jones was ultimately released from jail and ordered to complete anger management courses, as well as driver awareness classes. In addition, Jones must now get permission from his probation officer before driving anywhere.
