Since Daniel Cormier was forced out of his scheduled UFC 197 title defense, some have criticized the UFC for booking an interim light heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Ovince Saint Preux in the main event of UFC 197. Despite Saint Preux’s impressive 7-2 record that has seen him stop 5 opponents in 5 of his 7 wins, many are overlooking the #6 ranked light heavyweight, but Jon Jones isn’t.

Earlier this month it was revealed that UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier had injured his leg in training, and would be unable to fight Jon Jones in the main event of UFC 197 on April 23rd. The UFC booked Ovince Saint Preux as a replacement opponent for Jones, and made the bout an interim title fight. Assuming Jon Jones wins the fight, Daniel Cormier would like to have his rematch with the pound for pound king ASAP.

At UFC 200, Amanda Nunes will face the toughest test of her professional MMA career as she fights Miesha Tate for the UFC women’s bantamweight championship in the co-main event. When the fight was announced, many questioned whether or not Nunes deserved a title shot despite her 3-fight win streak. Holly Holm’s camp came out and accused Tate of turning down a rematch with Holm in order to take an easier fight, which lead to Tate’s camp refuting the claims.

Back in February, Ken Shamrock lost to Royce Gracie via 1st round TKO in the main event of Bellator 149. Following the fight, it was revealed that Shamrock tested positive for banned substances, something he has since denied using.

Following his UFC 196 submission loss to Nate Diaz, Conor McGregor revealed his intention to return to featherweight to defend his championship belt. Ultimately, the UFC booked a McGregor vs. Diaz welterweight rematch for UFC 200, and opted to have Jose Aldo and Frankie Edgar fight for the interim featherweight championship on the same card.

News broke late Friday evening that former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir had Ben informed of a potential doping violation by the US Anti-Doping Agency.  The potential drug testing failure stems from Mir’s recent fight against Mark Hunt, which he lost via 1st round KO.  The UFC released a statement through UFC.com which read: The UFC organization was notified today that the U.S. Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) has informed Frank Mir of a potential Anti-Doping Policy violation stemming from an in-competition sample collected the day of his fight on March 20, 2016 in Brisbane, Australia.

There has been a lot of talk since the UFC announced that their women’s bantamweight champion Miesha Tate would be fighting Amanda Nunes at UFC 200. Lenny Fresquez, manager of former champion Holly Holm claims that Tate “chose to take a weaker opponent” in Nunes.

Thursday afternoon, news broke that Khabib Nurmagomedov will now fight UFC newcomer Darrell Horcher at 160 pounds at UFC on FOX 19 later this month after Tony Ferguson was forced to withdraw from the bout. The announcement came as a bit of a surprise to many given the fact that Nurmagomedov is a top ranked lightweight, and Horcher, a CFFC champ, has never fought in the UFC.

UFC pound for pound kingpin Jon Jones may not be facing Daniel Cormier in the main event of UFC 197 any more, but the way ‘Bones’ sees it, it’s all part of the journey. Jones’ fight with Ovince Saint Preux is an interim title fight, however after that, Jones says his story with DC picks up right where it left off.
