Paddy Pimblett admits loss to Justin Gaethje at UFC 324 was “fair”

Paddy Pimblett believes his loss to Justin Gaethje at UFC 324 was fair as he looks ahead to the future.
Last Saturday night, Paddy Pimblett faced the biggest fight of his life against Justin Gaethje. The two battled it out over the interim UFC lightweight championship, and while Paddy certainly showed a lot of heart, he ultimately wasn’t able to hang with the damage and output being produced by ‘The Highlight’.

Gaethje picked up the win, and Pimblett now needs to go back to the drawing board. He certainly has the potential to go further than he already has, but for now, it’ll take a while for him to recover given the punishment that he endured in Las Vegas.
In his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan, Pimblett had the following to say about how the contest played out, as well as the scorecards.
Pimblett reflects on Gaethje defeat
“I wanted to be walking away with that belt,” Pimblett said in his post-fight interview with Joe Rogan. “I know how tough I am anyway. I don’t need to prove it to anyone. I wanted to leave with that belt, but there’s no other man I would rather lose to than ‘The Highlight,’ you know what I mean? Justin Gaethje is someone I’ve loved watching growing up watching the UFC. It shows why he’s a legend right there.”
“I thought 48-47 was a fair scorecard,” Pimblett said. “I’m not going to lie, he hit me with a body shot in that first round. He hit me right in the solar plexus, and it got me. I thought I was winning the first round up until that point. But you live and you learn. I’m 31. I’ll be back better. It’s as simple as that. You haven’t seen the last of me.”
