Nico Carrillo promises to make ONE World Championship “vision” a reality at ONE 170
Second-ranked bantamweight Muay Thai contender Nico “King of the North” Carrillo is on the brink of realizing his dream of holding gold in ONE Championship.

“King of the North” battles #5-ranked Nabil Anane for the ONE Interim Bantamweight Muay Thai World Title at ONE 170 on Friday, January 24, at Bangkok, Thailand’s Impact Arena.
Initially, Carrillo was due to meet two-sport great Superlek Kiatmoo9 next week. That was until the Thai star suffered a knee injury that placed him on the backburner, temporarily.
As a result, Carrillo’s dream encounter has been knocked back a step. But the plan remains the same for the Scottish knockout artist. He intends to enter Impact Arena and leave with a belt firmly around his waist.
“Two weeks to go. Two weeks until greatness,” Carrillo said on Instagram.
“A vision only me, my coach and fiancé could see for the longest time, when no one else could. Now it’s about to come true.”
Nico Carrillo determined to reach the mountaintop in ONE Championship
Scottish slugger Nico Carrillo’s dreams may have been knocked back by the withdrawal of two-sport ONE World Champion Superlek Kiatmoo9. But he refuses to let his motivation slip.
“King of the North” has caused nothing but destruction since entering ONE Championship. The names on his list are nothing short of impressive.
He’s beaten stars such as former ONE bantamweight Muay Thai ruler Nong-O Hama, the legendary Muangthai PK Saenchai, and divisional standout Saemapetch Fairtex. They’ve all fallen to Carrillo. And the Scot will have his sights set on adding Nabil Anane to that list.
With the world watching at ONE 170, there’s no better time or place for Carrillo to continue showing his worth. And should he score another tremendous finish, it’ll only make a clash with Superlek that much more prolific.
