ONE Interim Women’s Atomweight MMA World Champion Denice Zamboanga made herself undeniable this past Friday, January 10.

“The Menace” dismantled Alyona Rassohnya in the second round of their interim World Title bout at ONE Fight Night 27, inside Bangkok, Thailand’s Lumpinee Stadium. And now she’s looking at what’s to come.

Inevitably, it’s a showdown with her friend and reigning ONE Women’s Atomweight MMA World Champion Stamp Fairtex. The pair have been scheduled to clash on three occasions. But injuries suffered by both parties several times have cursed the bout.

But after ONE Fight Night 27, there is nothing standing in the way of the pivotal showdown. And to ensure that the unification bout takes place, Zamboanga is willing to wait for Stamp to return to full fitness.

“Definitely, Stamp (next). I’ll wait for her,” the Filipina said.

“It’s up to ONE Championship because I don’t think I have [any] injuries after this. But yeah, it’s up to ONE Championship.”

Denice Zamboanga labels ONE Fight Night 27 victory as career-best performance

ONE Fight Night 27 was not just a landmark night for Denice Zamboanga in terms of achievement. The Filipina phenom earned the ONE Interim Women’s Atomweight MMA World Title. But it was how she won that meant the most to her.

Zamboanga has earned submission finishes before. But this past Friday, January 10, “The Menace” picked up her first TKO win in ONE Championship.

In the lead-up to the bout, Zamboanga claimed how important it was to her to show her overall acumen. Rightly so, she believes the stoppage win last weekend was her best performance to date.

“I guess yes, because I had never finished my opponent by TKO while ranked and active, like the ranked fighters in our division,” she said.

“Now, for this fight, I’m more comfortable with my striking and also with my top game and also my grappling skills.”
