Khamzat Chimaev is a “clown” for considering light heavyweight move, says Sean Strickland

Sean Strickland has given his thoughts on Khamzat Chimaev potentially making the move up to the light heavyweight division.
As we know, Khamzat Chimaev is the current UFC middleweight champion. Many had been expecting him to become champion for years, but now that he is, there’s a real sense of fear in the air about how active he’s going to be with the gold around his waist.
Right now, Nassourdine Imavov and Sean Strickland are considered to be the two main contenders for a shot at Chimaev’s belt. However, because Strickland’s latest win was more recent than Imavov’s, he is getting a lot more attention, probably because there’s a built-in story behind him taking on Khamzat.
In a recent interview, Strickland gave his thoughts on Chimaev’s desire to move up to 205 pounds in an attempt to become a two-weight world champion.
Strickland goes off on Chimaev
“Guy’s just a clown,” Strickland told Full Send MMA of Chimaev. “You want to talk about a clown? You fought once in the middleweight division and you’re moving up to fight an easier fight? And that’s what he’s doing, he’s moving up to fight an easier fight. 205 division is soft as f*ck right now.
“So he’s like, ‘I’m going to go fight Jiri (Prochazka). You’re picking a really easy path. You’re not a double-champ. You’ve won a belt once. If the UFC grants that request, it would be a f*cking clown show, and I hope they don’t. I hope the UFC tells him to go f*ck himself. That’s the right thing to do. He doesn’t deserve it.”
