Jorge Masvidal drops intriguing comment on potential White House fight against Conor McGregor

Jorge Masvidal could soon be making his return to the Octagon.
Masvidal last fought in the UFC back in April of 2023 when he dropped a decision to Gilbert Burns. The loss was his fourth-straight, and he announced his retirement after the fight.
However, he did return to combat sports in July of 2024 for a boxing match against Nate Diaz, which ‘Gamebred’ lost by decision. Since then, Masvidal has hinted at a potential return, and now he believes that could come on the White House card against Conor McGregor.
“My boy Ali (Abdelaziz) is putting in the facetime. He’s getting in their face. It’s not looking bad right now. I can’t say too much more, but it’s not looking bad right now,” Masvidal said to Helwani about fighting McGregor at the White House. “They’re talking, dialogue has been opened, there is communication, and we will keep that communication open.”
A fight between Masvidal and McGregor has been rumored for years, so for it to finally happen at the White House event would be a massive one. Yet, as of right now, no contracts have been issued or signed, but Masvidal does hope it comes to fruition.
Jorge Masvidal wants to fight on White House card
Although fighting McGregor would be ideal, Masvidal said he just wants to be on the White House card.
Masvidal believes it would be a cool storyline for him, going from fighting in backyards to the White House lawn.
“The White House card for me is everything. I want to be on this card so bad. I pray to God I want to be on this card, it’s the White House,” Masvidal said.
Jorge Masvidal (35-17) is coming off a decision loss to Burns, and before that, lost to Colby Covington by decision. He also suffered a KO loss to Kamaru Usman and a decision loss to Usman for the welterweight title. Masvidal’s last win in the UFC came in 2019 against Nate Diaz.
