The mental aspect of fighting is just as important as the physical. Just ask former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre. “I became champion, I beat the greatest welterweight in the world back in the day that was Matt Hughes, who seems to be invincible back in the day and I beat him. So now I become the new greatest thing in the sport and everybody tells me how great I am and stuff and I started to believe in my own hype,” St-Pierre revealed when speaking to Joe Buck on “Undeniable” (transcribed by FOX Sports).

It has been nearly three years since former UFC welterweight kingpin Georges St-Pierre has competed inside the Octagon. Since then, talks of a GSP return to the UFC have never been far from the mouth’s of MMA fans. Ahead of UFC 196 there were rumors of a potential GSP vs. Conor McGregor fight at UFC 200 if McGregor were to defeat Nate Diaz. Ultimately, Diaz submitted McGregor in the 2nd round of their welterweight fight.

In addition to his coach stating that GSP could be preparing to ‘make a splash’ soon, Rory MacDonald slipped up and said that GSP would be returning for super fights, not for the UFC welterweight championship.

The hint of a comeback intensified on Thursday after a Quebec reporter tweeted that St-Pierre would be announcing his comeback in the coming days. However, the tweet that chirped a resounding message was muffled soon after.
