EXCLUSIVE | Louis Fisette’s TUF 18 Fighter Blog Week 7

By Chris Taylor - October 17, 2013

Louis “Petit Pain” Fisette (6-1 MMA) is one of the youngest talents in MMA’s rich 135-pound division. The 23 year-old Canadian bantamweight is a contestant on this season of (TUF:18) The Ultimate Fighter: Tate vs. Rousey.

Here is what Louis had to say about Week 7 of his ‘TUF’ experience:

Father’s Day in the house was very different than you’d expect. I thought I’d really be missing my family that day and missing my dad, but it really wasn’t like that. My grasp of time was so far off I didn’t even know what the date was the majority of the time. All I kept track of was day of the week and how many days were left.

For the fathers, I’m sure it was much harder being in the house. I thought it was a really nice gesture that Ronda made an attempt to help them through that day and being them all gifts! As much as people hate on Ronda, I think she has a good heart.

Cody breaking down like that was really surprising. I knew he missed his family, but I guess we didn’t realize to what extent. Him only being 22 with a young kid back home must have been tough. Like he said “this will all be worth it” and that’s really how I thought about it too! In the end it will pay off one way or another.

Not much chit chat in this episode they basically get straight into the fight. Both guys come from good families have been doing this for a while. Interesting to see two undefeated guys go at it! Someone will lose that 0! Going into the fight Wooten was obviously a massive massive 135er. Josh is very muscular, but just stocky. At weigh in I remember thinking Michael really looked like death. He cut SO hard and suffered so much! Hats off to that guy. Made weight like a champ and never complained.

Round 1: went exactly to plan. Josh pushed him up against the fence and held him there. At one point Josh takes Wootens back and honestly we all thought it was over. Josh was kinda stuck against the cage so couldn’t finish the RNC.

Round 2: Wooten lands a big knee that drops Hill. You can tell Josh isn’t all there up until there’s basically 1 minute left in the round. He did a great job defending and not getting finished. I was worried about him keeping his composure and maybe getting overwhelmed with punches. He’s a true fighter, he kept his cool and kept moving and got out of that round without too much difficulty!

Round 3: was the deciding round. We knew the fight was close, and whoever had that last bit of heart would take it. Very back and forth round, Josh attempts a spinning back fist that misses, and that’s that. Wooten gets on top and finishes the round strong.

Obviously after the fight was over Josh was really upset. I felt like he was one of my best friends in the house, so I felt like I had to talk to him. I was just honest with him. He fought his ass off. He went in there and gave it his all. You can’t ask for anything other than that. Tough loss, but I think he will really come back stronger going forward!

Congrats to Wooten. I really liked the guy and he really gutted out that fight and pulled out the win!
