Darren Till set to headline BKFC 94 vs. star he openly refused to fight in UFC

Former UFC star Darren Till will get a steep upgrade in competition for his return to the Bare Knuckle FC ring.

Former UFC fan favorite Darren Till made a great first impression in his Bare Knuckle FC debut earlier this year. In May, Till knocked out Aaron Chalmers with one punch at BKFC 90 to continue his post-Mixed Martial Arts success.

Till signed a lucrative contract with BKFC earlier this year, and a potential superfight against Mike Perry was teased immediately after he signed on the dotted line. But Perry hasn’t fought in BKFC in months, and a timeline for his return to the ring remains uncertain.

In the meantime, Till will get the opportunity to headline BKFC’s return to Manchester against one of the most dangerous fighters in UFC history.

Darren Till vs. Yoel Romero headlines BKFC 94

As announced by BKFC executive Dave Feldman on The Ariel Helwani Show, Till will face former UFC middleweight title challenger Yoel Romero in the BKFC 94 main event on September 26th. Romero returns to the BKFC ring for the first time since a TKO win in his debut last September.

At one point in their UFC careers, Till and Romero were two of the middleweight division’s top contenders, and a matchup between them was proposed by the media numerous times. After a successful middleweight debut win over Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 244, Till gave a brutally honest answer when asked about fighting Romero.

At the UFC 244 post-fight press conference, Till was asked about a potential fight against Romero and quickly shut it down.

“Oh f— that guy, I don’t ever want to fight him! He’s a beast! [LAUGHS],” Till said.

In a recent press release, Till seemed to hint at his UFC 244 comments and admitted a change of heart.

“I’ve finally gotten over my years of trauma and nightmares of Yoel Romero. So, let’s f—– do this!” Till declared.

The full BKFC 94 card is expected ot be finalized in the coming weeks. The BKFC 94 co-main event features the return of middleweight champion David Mundell and UK boxing star Jack Cullen.
