Dana White says Brock Lesnar could be cageside for Daniel Cormier vs. Derrick Lewis fight

By Tom Taylor - October 23, 2018

Originally, UFC heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier was expected to make the first defense of his heavyweight title opposite former champion and long-time WWE star Brock Lesnar. Yet when the UFC needed a main event for UFC 230, which goes down on November 3 in New York, Cormier agreed to a short-notice heavyweight title fight with streaking contender Derrick Lewis

While Derrick Lewis is now the first item on Daniel Cormier’s to-do list, the champ has remained adamant that there is still a Brock Lesnar fight in his future.

“I know I’m going to fight Lesnar,” Cormier told reporters at the recent UFC 230 media day. “There’s nobody or anything that could change that. [The UFC has] never done me like that, so there’s no reason to believe it would start now.”

“I haven’t had anything promised to me that hasn’t been delivered,” he added. “The UFC’s been good to me. I don’t worry about that.”

Speaking to ESPN recently, UFC President Dana White seemed to echo these comments from Cormier. He says he wants Lesnar to fight soon, and in fact, he wouldn’t be surprised if the pro wrestler wound up sitting cage side for Cormier’s upcoming fight with Lewis.

“Brock Lesnar might be [at UFC 230] in New York,” the UFC President said (transcript via MMA Mania). “That’s not guaranteed, we haven’t talked about it or anything, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he called and said, ‘I’m coming to the fight.’ I plan on Brock Lesnar fighting soon.”

Do you think we’ll see Brock Lesnar sitting cageside for Daniel Cormier’s fight with Derrick Lewis at UFC 230?
