MMA legend Cris Cyborg hit back at UFC Hall of Famer Ronda Rousey’s attacks on her at the first Gina Carano fight press conference.

The pre-fight buildup for Ronda Rousey’s return to the cage against women’s MMA pioneer Gina Carano is underway, and their first press conference on Tuesday didn’t disappoint. Rousey and Carano, along with former UFC heavyweight champ Francis Ngannou and his upcoming opponent Philipe Lins, appeared in front of fans and media to build up the highly-anticipated event.

While Rousey and Carano stayed relatively cordial at the press conference, Rousey used part of her time on the microphone to bash one of her longtime adversaries. When Carano answered a question by talking about her historic showdown with Cris Cyborg earlier in her career, Rousey ignited a firestorm of attacks on the former UFC featherweight champion.

“Obviously, a cheating roided-up b—- that totally cheated you out of your title that was deservingly yours,” Rousey said of Cyborg. “You’re too nice to say it, so I’m gonna say, f— her. You’re the best.”

In a recent post to X, Cyborg went off on Rousey after her personal attacks at the press conference.

“I had one failed test for PEDs in my 21 year career. 2011. 15 years ago. The sport was very different at that time, and I didn’t even speak English then,” Cyborg responded to Rousey.

“I had no idea the pills given to me in Brazil to “help lose weight” were banned for athletes in the USA. I served my penalty. I learned a life lesson. I have been involved in Olympic style testing for over 15 years without any other issues. I have proven I am a clean athlete. I use my own experience to mentor to younger athletes on the importance of knowing what you put into your bodies and the dangers of PEDs. 21 years I have been fighting. When [Ronda Rousey] hid her face in a pillow…I walked that same experience with dignity and humility, something you couldn’t display during your UFC career and something you’re already highlighting with your Most Valuable Promotions fight with Gina Carano.

“One thing I absolutely know is that you will say every mean thing in the world…but you won’t fight me,” Cyborg concluded. “I pray one day you become happy in yourself.”

Cyborg is targeting a return to the cage later this year after defeating Sara Collins in December at PFL Champions Series 4. Meanwhile, Rousey will make her first MMA appearance since suffering back-to-back UFC losses to Holly Holm and Amanda Nunes.
