Former UFC lightweight champion Frankie Edgar will square off with former UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo for the promotions interim featherweight title at UFC 200 this July. The fight will mark the second time that Edgar and Aldo have gone to battle inside the octagon. “The Answer” suffered a unanimous decision loss to Aldo in the main event of UFC 156 in February 2013.

After initially tweeting that he was going to retire young, the UFC announced that they had to pull McGregor off UFC 200 due to his refusal to take part in media obligations to promote the fight.

Recently news broke that Fedor Emelianenko would be making his return to MMA once again on June 17th under the Fight Nights Global banner in Russia to fight Fabio Maldonado. Surprisingly, the promotion has now offered Conor McGregor $2 million to fight at the event as well. This comes after McGregor was pulled from UFC 200 for refusing to fulfill his media obligations for the event.

UFC President Dana White spoke with TMZ late Monday on his way to watch Paige VanZant’s routine on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” and spoke about the latest on the situation and McGregor’s odd tweet that he was “back on” for UFC 200.

It is without a doubt that UFC featherweight Conor McGregor has all eyes and ears on him as the story of UFC 200 continues on to the next chapter. McGregor tweeted late Sunday that he and the UFC came to an agreement and was back on the UFC 200 card after being pulled off for refusing to take part in media obligations for the fight. UFC President Dana White later said on Monday to TMZ that nothing has changed since pulling “The Notorious” off the marquee UFC 200 card.

The Conor McGregor and UFC 200 story continues on after “The Notorious” tweeted late Sunday that he was back on UFC 200. Monday came around and Dana White denied McGregor’s claim and stated that he has not been put back on the marquee card. McGregor was spotted getting on a plane, likely leaving Iceland where he has been training with his team. McGregor’s longtime coach John Kavanagh spoke on the MMA Hour on Monday and acknowledged that they were no longer all training in Iceland.

By now, the MMA community knows that Conor McGregor ‘retired’ from MMA on Tuesday. Following that, The UFC announced that McGregor had been pulled from his UFC 200 main event fight with Nate Diaz for refusing to fulfill his media obligations. McGregor then released a statement on Thursday explaining that he wishes to focus on training rather than doing excessive amounts of promo work for UFC 200. The featherweight champ also explained that he was willing to fight at UFC 200, but that he wouldn’t do promo work at the expense of his training. McGregor then ended to announcement by stating that he isn’t retired. While UFC President Dana White stated that Nate Diaz would be flying to Vegas to discuss new opponents, it appears that is no longer the case.
