Rani Yahya is forced out of his scheduled UFC bout with Cory Garbrandt.

Cody Garbrandt

It was to be Rani Yahya (28-10 MMA) vs Cody Garbrandt (12-5 MMA) in the bantamweight co-main event on October 1st in Las Vegas.

The bout had been rescheduled as it was originally taking place on July 9 but Yahya was forced to withdraw due to a neck injury he suffered during training.

Cody Garbrandt, 31, is on a losing skid, he has lost five of his past six fights. The last time he saw victory inside the Octagon was in June of 2020 at UFC 250 where he defeated Raphael Assuncao (27-9 MMA) via knockout. Garbrandt is the former UFC bantamweight champion. The Ohio native did try his hands at flyweight at UFC 269 last December, but lost via first-round TKO to Kai Kara-France (24-10 MMA).

Yahya, 38, last fought in November of 2021 where he defeated Kyung Ho Kang (18-9 MMA) by unanimous decision. Rani is one of the few UFC veterans who has no knockouts to his name.
