Cody Garbrandt fires back at “busted up” Dominick Cruz

By bjpenndotcom - October 29, 2016

UFC bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz is certainly one of the most underrated trash talkers in MMA. When Cruz was making his highly anticipated return to the Octagon in January against TJ Dillashaw, Cruz took his trash talk to an entirely new level when he began his verbal onslaught of the bantamweight champion. Ultimately, when the pair stepped into the Octagon, it was Cruz who emerged victorious as he reclaimed the bantamweight championship he never actually lost inside the Octagon.

Since then, Cruz has defended the bantamweight championship once, and Dillashaw has returned to the win column after defeating Raphael Assuncao at UFC 200 back in July.

With that being said, Cruz is currently gearing up for his UFC 207 title defense against Cody Garbrandt on December 30th, the UFC’s New Years Eve card.

Ahead of that fight, Cruz spoke about his gameplan in an interview, where he explained that he is going to remain elusive and pick Garbrandt apart:

“I’m going to put myself in the smallest ratio of taking damage, and that way I can use my brain and continue to beat you down round after round, pick you apart, take as minimal amount of damage as I can while I just beat you up. I’m going to mix it up on you, keep you guessing so much that at the end of it you’re just going to wish I would put you out of your misery. I’m just going to keep beating you down, tagging you up, and making you look silly. Step by step, minute by minute, round by round, until you beg me to stop you.”

That didn’t sit too well with Cody Garbrandt, who fired back in an interview with TMZ, saying:

“When has he ever put anyone away? He says he’s going to break my body down? That dude’s so old, hopefully he makes it to the fight! That guy’s got…you ever see the guy’s hands off of ‘Scary Movie’? ‘Take my strong hand,’ you ever seen his hands? He’s got busted up hands. He thinks he’s going to take me out with those? His wheels are bad, he’s 32 years-old now, I’m 25, I’m young, hungry, I’m a savage. He knows what he’s in for.”
