UFC legend claims Charles Oliveira ‘makes too many mistakes’ to dethrone Max Holloway at UFC 326

A former two-division UFC champion believes Charles Oliveira will hinder his own path to victory against Max Holloway at UFC 326.

Former UFC lightweight champion Charles Oliveira’s first step towards another potential lightweight title shot begins this weekend at UFC 326. Oliveira will fight BMF titleholder Max Holloway in the UFC 326 main event this Saturday, in a rematch years in the making.

Holloway and Oliveira have been two of the UFC’s most exciting fighters for years, and are two massive fan favorites. Both Oliveira and Holloway aren’t afraid of taking risks inside the Octagon, as evidenced by Holloway’s infamous ‘point down’.

But one UFC legend thinks Oliveira’s willingness to take risks will lead to his downfall this weekend at UFC 326.

Henry Cejudo: Charles Oliveira ‘makes too many mistakes’ to beat Max Holloway

In a recent appearance on The Bohnfire podcast, former two-division UFC champion Henry Cejudo was asked which way he’s leaning ahead of the UFC 326 main event.

“I think Max, he’s too fundamentally solid, and I feel like Charles makes too many mistakes,” Cejudo said of Holloway vs. Oliveira 2.

“He’s too ‘Let’s fight, bring it down, point down’…I think Max is just tactically more witty than that.  He just keeps it on his feet, 1-2s, moves laterally, this is where the straight-forward opponent in Oliveira likes to clinch.”

But Cejudo pointed to one potential path to victory for Oliveira in his rematch against Holloway.

“If [Oliveira] is able to get it there, I think Charles can take him down,” Cejudo said of Oliveira.

“His takedowns are underrated; he has a beautiful double-leg.”

Oliveira is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu ace and holds the most submissions in UFC history. If the fight gets to the ground against Holloway, don’t be surprised if Oliveira dethrones the BMF champ.
