Former UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar made a successful return to the octagon at last night’s UFC 200 event in Las Vegas scoring a unanimous decision victory over former title challenger Mark Hunt. Earlier that evening at UFC 200, former heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez scored a first-round knockout victory over Travis Browne.

Back in February, Cain Velasquez and Fabricio Werdum were slated to have a highly anticipated rematch for the UFC heavyweight championship at UFC 196. Ultimately, both men were forced to withdraw from the bout with injuries, and the event became ‘UFC FN: Hendricks vs. Thompson’.

The fight is a ‘must-win’ for Velasquez, who looks to fight Fabricio Werdum and once again capture his UFC heavyweight championship. Boxing legend Julio Cesar Chavez met with Velasquez after the UFC 200 Press Conference, where he offered an invitation to train the former heavyweight champ.

Although only 32 years of age, “JDS” has been through plenty of wars, most notably his final two bouts with rival Cain Velasquez in which he took a considerable amount of punishment.

Recently Cain Velasquez withdrew from his UFC 196 bout with Fabricio Werdum with a back injury. Velasquez’ withdrawal ultimately led to the UFC booking Stipe Miocic as a fill-in opponent for Werdum, who then withdrew from the bout with a back injury. After a brief scramble that saw Nate Diaz offer to fight Anthony Pettis in the main event, the UFC promoted the co-main event bout between Johny Hendricks and Stephen Thompson to the main event, and moved the card to Fox Sports 1.
