UFC heavyweight Alistair Overeem disappointed fight fans when he turned down two recent opportunities to face off with former champion, Junior dos Santos.

UFC President Dana White told us that ‘The Reem’ was “literally running from Dos Santo’s, while Alistair pointed to a rib injury that is the actual culprit for his turning down of the fight.

Last night on the UFC’s news show on Fox Sports 1, The FOX crew gave an update:

“He’s been on vacation in Jamaica and is still feeling discomfort in his ribs. He’s been doing some therapy and is going to Holland to get some tests done. He doesn’t want to agree to a fight until he’s about 90 percent ready, but he does want to fight as soon as possible. But he wants to find out what’s wrong with him first.”
