Ponzinibbio out, Jordan Mein now faces Hernani Perpetuo at UFC on FOX 11

By Chris Taylor - February 27, 2014

A cast member from “The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil 2,″ Santiago Ponzinibbio (18-2 MMA, 0-1 UFC), has been forced to pull out of his upcoming fight at UFC on FOX 11.

The reason behind Ponzinibbio’s scratch remains unknown, but it left Canadian Jordan Mein without an opponent for the April fight card.

UFC officials were quick to correct the matter, as they announced today that promotional newcomer Hernani Perpetuo (17-3 MMA) will replace Ponzinibbio against Mein at the UFC on FOX 11 event.

Perpetuo will make his octagon debut on the strength of an eight fight win streak. The Nova Uniao product was last seen in action in August of 2013.

Meanwhile, Strikeforce import Jordan Mein will be looking to get back into the win column when he faces Perpetuo this April. In his last performance, Mein suffered a second-round TKO loss to surging welterweight contender Matt Brown at UFC on FOX 7. Prior to that, “Young Gun” stopped Dan Miller in his octagon debut at the UFC 158 event in Montreal.

UFC on FOX 11 goes down April 19 live from the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida. The event is headlined by a heavyweight number 1 contenders match between Travis Browne and Fabricio Werdum.

The event’s main card airs on live on FOX, following the prelims which show on FOX Sports 1 and UFC Fight Pass.
