UFC FN 52 Results: Hunt Drops Nelson with Uppercut, Walk off KO Win in Round 2

By bjpenndotcom - September 20, 2014

Mark Hunt is the master of walk-off knockouts.

Mark Hunt and Roy Nelson had an even round one and neither heavyweight gained telling momentum. Both Hunt and Nelson would almost land a knockout blow, but the other would duck or dodge the shot just in time. Once they found a comfortable striking distance toward the end of the first round, the second looked more promising.

Nelson opened up the round with a takedown and he proceeded to take the back of Nelson. Hunt was quick to get back to his feet after shaking Nelson off the top. Hunt’s timing was starting to click and he noticed that whenever Nelson went in for a combo, he would duck down. This set Hunt up for a spectacular knockout victory.

Nelson, as expected, ducked down and Hunt cut him off with a brutal right uppercut. Nelson lost his footing and proceeded to fall to the canvas. It was clear he was still out of it after landing face-first on the mat and Hunt simply towered over him and put his hands in the air, celebrating his assumed victory. He wasn’t wrong; the referee stepped in and stopped the fight.
