UFC 166: Sarah Kaufman vs. Jessica Eye Booked

By BJPENN.COM News - August 24, 2013

Two top ranked female combatants have agreed to square off in a UFC 166 match that will serve as both their promotional debuts.

Former Strikeforce bantamweight champion, Sarah Kaufman, has agreed to face off with former Bellator fighter Jessica Eye.

UFC 166: Velasquez vs. dos Santos III is set to take place on October 19, from the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

Kaufman was originally set to make her UFC debut next week at UFC Fight Night 27, however an injury to her opponent, Sarah McMann, forced the bouts cancellation. Kaufman earned Strikeforce gold in 2010 and made one successful defense of her title before losing it to top female fighter, Marloes Coenen. Since her title loss she has gone on an impressive 4-1 run with her sole loss coming at the hands of the champ, Ronda Rousey.

Jessica Eye burst onto the scene when she took it to Bellator champ, Zoila Gurgel, and choked her out in under a minute in a non-title fight. The Ohio Native was forced out of her Bellator contract when the promotion decided to dissolve their female division entirely. Since her professional debut in 2010, Eye has gone on a 10-1 run and brings in a seven-fight win streak to her UFC debut.

No word on the bouts placement on the card.
