Miesha Tate vs. Sara McMann set for UFC 183

Former Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight Champion Miehsa Tate (15-5 MMA, 2-2 UFC) will return to the octagon this January when she faces former Olympian Sara McMann (8-1 MMA, 2-1 UFC) at UFC 183 in Las Vegas.

The matchup was announced on Wednesday’s edition of “UFC Tonight.”

After suffering a third-round submission loss to Ronda Rousey in December of 2013, “Cupcake” has since scored back-to-back decision wins. Miesha’s latest victory came over the previosuly undefeated Rin Nakai at September’s UFC Fight Night event in Japan.

Meanwhile, Sara McMann was last seen in action at August’s UFC Fight Night event in Maine, where she scored a split-decision win over Lauren Murphy. Prior the victory, McMann was coming off the first loss of her career, which she suffered to Ronda Rousey at UFC 170 in February.

UFC 183 takes place January 31 live from the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is headlined by a middlweight fight featuring former UFC champion Anderson Silva taking on former Strikeforce titleholder Nick Diaz.
