Matt Brown Says He Isn’t Worried About MacDonald v. Woodley Winner Getting Title Shot

By BJPENN.COM News - June 10, 2014

Top ranked UFC welterweight Matt Brown spoke to MMAJunkie.com about UFC 174’s upcoming Rory MacDonald vs. Tyron Woodley matchup and why he isn’t concerned with either of the two cutting the line to a title shot.

“It hasn’t crossed my mind. That’s a pretty interesting fight. I could see it going either way, but I can’t worry about what’s going to happen after the fight. I can’t worry about July 27. All I can worry about is my fight on July 26.”

Brown is coming off a remarkable performance against Erick Silva in what is widely considered to be an early front runner for fight of the year. The performance which saw Brown get dropped by a body shot early on in the first went on the be one of the best performances of Brown’s career. Many thought that Brown deserved a title shot after his fight against Silva, which extended Brown’s win streak to 7, however the UFC had different plans in mind, and matched The Immortal up against Robbie Lawler in a #1 contender fight.

“I understand why [they gave me this] fight and not the title (shot),” Brown said. “I’m not foolish about it. I know exactly what’s going on, and I’ll be happy as long as I win the fight.”
