Machida Not Out For Silva’s Revenge In Weidman Bout

By BJPENN.COM News - May 23, 2014

Lyoto ‘The Dragon’ Machida is set to square off with Chris Weidman on July 5.

The duo will serve as the UFC 175 main event on pay-per-view, on the biggest fight weekend in combat sports history.

Machida also shares management and often trains with, former middleweight champion, Anderson Silva.

When asked at today’s press conference if he is fighting for Silva’ revenge, Lyoto said,

“There’s no way. Everyone has got their own career and this is my chance at the belt, so there is no sense of revenge.”

‘The Dragon’ was also asked if he has any added pressure to bring another belt back to the Brazil. He said,

“There is always pressure. And I change that pressure into motivation, and the motivation is to bring that belt to Brazil.”
