Is Fabricio Werdum the greatest heavyweight ever?

By Russell Ess - November 26, 2015

UFC heavyweight champion Fabricio Werdum holds wins against the greatest names in MMA. Being commonly staged as the underdog, Werdum has not only beat, but finished the biggest names in Fedor Emelianenko, Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira, and most recently Cain Velasquez.

Rafael Cordeiro, former Chute Box head coach and current Kings MMA coach of UFC lightweight champion Rafael Dos Anjos and heavyweight champion Werdum believes that his heavyweight star is the greatest heavyweight of all time.

Cordeiro spoke with MMA Fighting on how people’s excuses about Velasquez losing to Werdum in June is simply a way to prove Werdum is the best.

“Let’s do it again. There’s a reason Fabricio wants to fight again,” Cordeiro told Ariel Helwani on The MMA Hour. “The first fight, everybody says about altitude, about two years with no fight, blah-blah-blah. Okay. Let’s do this fight again, and he’s gonna prove, for sure, he’s the best heavyweight in the world.”

“Please, I’m really humble about martial arts because I know I have to be humble because you can never say something more than your mouth. If your mouth says something, you have to say something correct. I don’t wanna hurt nobody, but I believe Fabricio Werdum is the best heavyweight ever. He beat legends, and he deserves all respect.”
