Daniel Cormier Fought Hendo With Some Major Injuries

By bjpenndotcom - May 30, 2014

Former Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix champion Daniel Cormier just recently earned himself the next UFC light heavyweight title shot when he defeated Dan Henderson at UFC 173. Cormier ended up submitting Henderson in the third round and will now face the winner of Jon Jones vs Alexander Gustafsson.

On the most recent episode of UFC Tonight, Ariel Helwani revealed that Cormier told him he had injured his LCL ten days before the fight with Henderson. Cormier said that he contemplated pulling out of the fight, but ultimately decided to go through with it. Helwani said that Cormier will be visiting the doctor soon to have his knee checked out and that Cormier also said that his ACL has been a concern for a while, and he is worried it might need surgery.

As on now, even if Cormier does need surgery it seems as though he may have the time to heal up. A bout between Jones and Gustafsson has yet to be made official.
