Ronaldo Jacare Souza

Chris Weidman is getting ready to fight Vitor Belfort at UFC 181, but he already has another challenger looking at getting a crack at the champion. Jacare Souza is fresh off a dominant win over Gegard Mousasi earlier this month, and is confident he can beat the current middleweight champion, Chris Weidman.

MMAJunkie spoke with Weidman about Jacare’s confidence, but the champ didn’t seem worried:

“I want people to believe they can beat me, because that’s going to make for a bigger fight and a tougher challenge. I really think Lyoto Machida believed he was going to beat me (at UFC 175, and that’s why I think it was an exciting fight. The more guys who truly believe they’re going to win and aren’t mentally defeated, that’s what I want. I don’t want to just run over people because they don’t believe in themselves. I want to dominate guys who believe in themselves.”

Before Jacare gets his crack at whoever the champion is after Weidman and Belfort fight in December, he will have to win one more fight according to UFC President Dana White..
