UFC light heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones turned himself in to authorities on Monday evening, this after allegedly being involved in a hit-and-run accident that left a pregnant woman in her 20’s with a broken arm early Sunday morning in New Mexico.

Jones was booked at the Metropolitan Detention Center on Monday evening, but was later released on $2,500 bail.

At this time, Jon Jones is still slated to defend his title against Anthony Johnson at next month’s UFC 187 pay-per-view event in Las Vegas.

According to Jones’ attorney, Vincent Ward, the UFC light heavyweight champion is taking this incident very “seriously” and is hopeful that he can return to training soon, his words (via Koat.com):

“He wants to get down to training for this fight he has,” stated Ward. “He wouldn’t want to be dealing with this right now, but he’s a great guy, he’s taking all this seriously.”
