Chris Weidman and Vitor Belfort once again have a date that the pair will meet inside the Octagon.
The bout is scheduled to finally go down on February 28th at UFC 184 in Los Angeles.
Belfort spoke to MMAFighting about the bout:
“On Feb. 28, I will be stepping inside the cage and winning this belt. It’s going to be good, right after Carnival.
“Los Angeles is a great place, the first place I lived when I moved to the United States. It was the right place. I’m really happy with this news.”
Belfort had stated previously that he believed the UFC should have an interim champion in the mean time, since his bout with Weidman was pushed back after Weidman broke his hand in December, a position he defended.
“He was active this year, but he got hurt twice. An interim title keeps the division moving. The only person that wins with it is (the champion) that got hurt. It’s frustrating for everyone – fighters, media and fans – to see that you won’t have a title fight.”
