UFN 71 Results: Holly Holm Picks Up Second UFC Win, Puts On a Kicking Clinic

By BJPENN.COM News - July 15, 2015

Holly Holm took on Marion Reneau at UFC Fight Night: Mir vs. Duffee.

A minute into the fight a strike hadn’t landed for either fighter. Holm kept the pressure on, walking Reneau down. Holm threw a lot of kicks, to the body and to the legs, a lot of them missed. Reneau wasn’t able to get inside of Holm’s reach. Reneau landed a nice body kick late in the round. Holm continued to throw kick after kick.

In the second Holm continued with the kicks. She managed to land a nice head kick, then later a body kick. Reneau really couldn’t do much, or at least she didn’t try to do much. Holm seemed set on putting on a kicking clinic. Reneau threw a kick that was caught. Reneau jumped guard, but Holm threw her down and stood up and away.

The third looked like a carbon copy of the first two rounds. Holm threw kick after kick and Reneau just walked around eating the kicks and throwing the occasional out of reach strike. Reneau tried to pull guard again and again Holm slammed her down, then stood up. With 10 seconds left Holm turned up the pace and moved forward with punches.

RESULT: Holm wins via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-26, 29-28)
