Stipe Miocic makes case for title shot, shuts down Overeem’s case

At UFC 195 earlier this month, Stipe Miocic fought Andrei Arlovski in a fight that many believed was a heavyweight #1 contender fight.

Miocic went out and KO’d Arlovski in under a minute, and then proceeded to scream at UFC President Dana White to give him a title shot. In addition, Miocic continued to make his case for a title shot in his post-fight Octagon interview.

On UFC on FOX 17 in December, Alistair Overeem TKO’d former champion Junior Dos Santos, making a very strong case for why he deserved a title shot.

Miocic spoke to Submission Radio to make his case for a title shot, and shut down Overeem’s case.

“It’s always in the back of my mind, but you know, I think I’m more deserving. Overeem is super tough. He’s a tough guy, he’s been on a little streak, but I definitely feel like I’m more deserving than he is. The last three guys I fought are top five in the world, and he’s got three guys behind him that knocked him out in the first round.”

It is important to mention that champion Fabricio Werdum will be defending his championship at UFC 196 against Cain Velasquez in February.
