According to a new report, it looks like the UFC is close to finalizing the main event for their first trip to South Korea.
MMAFighting state that sources close to the promotion say former WEC and UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson and welterweight Thiago Alves will square off in the events headlining fight.
An interesting note is that the fight will take place at the 170 lb. welterweight division. Henderson is of course known for being a lightweight, but was successful in his short notice win over Brandon Thatch. He’s also expressed interest in staying at the heavier weight class.
Then there’s Thiago Alves who recently said that he wants to go down to lightweight. It appears, for the time being, that he will stay put at welterweight.
Henderson has been calling for a fight on this South Korea event for a while now and it looks like he’s getting it.
